Trezor Bridge

Secure local helper to connect your Trezor® hardware wallet to web apps and Trezor Suite.

What is Trezor Bridge?

Trezor Bridge is a small, officially supported local helper application that enables secure communication between your Trezor hardware wallet and web-based applications (or older desktop flows) when direct browser access (WebUSB/WebHID) is not available. It runs on your computer and forwards requests from the browser or Suite to the connected device over a protected local channel.

Why use Bridge?

  • Provides compatibility for browsers and platforms that don't support direct hardware access.
  • Facilitates secure local communication without exposing keys to the web.
  • Makes older integrations and fallback flows work reliably in environments where WebUSB/WebHID is restricted.

Installation (quick)

Important: Only download Bridge from the official Trezor website: Get Trezor Bridge

  1. Download the Bridge installer for your OS from trezor.io/bridge.
  2. Run the installer and follow on-screen prompts (Windows, macOS, Linux packages provided).
  3. After installation, Bridge runs as a background service and is accessible via your browser or Trezor Suite.
  4. Connect your Trezor device with the original USB cable and allow any permission prompts in your browser or OS.

Troubleshooting & tips

  • Device not detected: Try a different USB port or cable and confirm Bridge is running (check system tray / background services).
  • Browser prompts: If your browser blocks access, allow the site (or enable WebUSB/WebHID) or use Bridge as the fallback helper.
  • Reinstall Bridge: Uninstall the existing Bridge, reboot, then reinstall the latest version from the official site.
  • Permission errors on macOS: Ensure you’ve granted the installer necessary permissions and that the device is visible in Finder / System Settings.
  • Conflicting software: Some privacy or security tools that block local sockets may interfere with Bridge—temporarily disable them while connecting.
Heads up: Modern browsers increasingly support WebUSB/WebHID — in many cases you can connect your Trezor directly without Bridge. Bridge remains a reliable fallback for older environments or certain OS/browser combinations.

Security

Trezor Bridge only facilitates local, encrypted communication between your computer and the connected device. Your private keys never leave the hardware wallet. Always:

  • Download Bridge only from trezor.io.
  • Never enter your recovery seed into any app or website.
  • Verify device prompts and transaction details on the Trezor screen before confirming.
